The Little Studio — Resident Student Welcome
Resident Student Welcome

Welcome to
your studio home.

A space to keep making, on your own time.

Thanks for joining The Little Studio rental family! We're so glad to have you working alongside us. This page lays out the details of your rental — your space, your access, what's expected of you, and what you can expect from us.

If anything here is unclear, or something comes up that doesn't quite fit the below, just let us know. We're always happy to talk through adjustments to the process.

— James & The Little Studio Team

Our Core Values

Everything we do at The Little Studio flows from three beliefs. As an instructor, you are the living expression of these values every time you walk through the door. Chief among them: The Little Studio is a family, and all are welcome. Full stop. Our studio is a place where people of all backgrounds, abilities, and experience levels feel safe, respected, and valued — if someone is in our space, they belong here, and it's our job to make sure they feel that way.

1: Inclusivity
Whether someone is walking in for the first time, just browsing, or a returning student — every single person who enters this studio deserves a warm greeting. Make eye contact, ask how you can help. We want everyone to feel like they just walked into a friend or family member's studio, not a business. That feeling starts with you.
2: Intention
We believe in quality over quantity. Leaning into the experience and practice of ceramics. Create work that speaks to you and enhances not only your life but those you choose to share it with.
3: Growth
There is always something to learn. That applies to a student working through their first wobbly bowl, and it applies to us as instructors and as people. We don't expect perfection — we embrace the process, celebrate progress, and stay curious. If you're growing, your students will too.

Your Studio Space

Your rental includes the one 18" x 36" shelf in our OG Studio — that's your primary space. You'll also have access to our upstairs studio.

Flexible Studio Access
Your access is "24hr Access" access. We prioritize all studio bookings, events, and other scheduled learning experiences to utilize our primary studio space (upstairs). the OG (lower studio) is prioritized for Resident Student Rental access. We occasionally can have a private class that will also utilize the space.
Sharing the Space
  • Any community tools you borrow from the primary studio must be returned after use.
  • Ahead of firings, you can use the flex shelf space (the steel framed/wooden shelves between the kilns and working area) for pieces awaiting the resident student prioritized firings.
  • The metal wire shelves (between the pillars) is communal flex storage space — its availability can shift based on studio demand and rental capacity. We do not recommend keeping tools or materials you do not want to share use of on these shelves.
  • Please be mindful of shared spaces (work talbes, wedging tables, flex shelving, etc.) whenever you're using them.
  • Most importantly, please leave the studio cleaner than you found it.
